Scripting
Moving Home is the ’08 Classics at Brucemore play. I was asked to direct the scripting of a play in response to the devastating flood that hit Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. After creating a frame narrative, I took in monologues and story ideas from ten other writers and worked their texts and ideas into a 90 minute play with music.
CD Jacket
Moving Home is the soundtrack to the play of the same name. The jacket uses images created by Mel Andringa of CSPS/Legion Arts for the play.
Miscellaneous
These Flood Myth Trading Cards were created as an add-on for Classics at Brucemore’s Moving Home. It includes the “Flood God” characters from the play as well as other flood myths from around the world.
Brochure
John Saikaly is a local sculptor and painter who asked me to produce an artist’s commission brochure.
Poem
“My Father’s Father” was written about my grandfather. The last time I saw him, he had given in to his emphysema and, against all our expectations, was just waiting for the end.
Short Story
This excerpt from my short story “Reginald Dhyre” is the opening page. I wrote this story to exorcize one of my phobias as well as to play within the thriller genre.
Essay
“In Defense of Folding” is a tongue-in-cheek mock-essay about something that most people choose not to discuss.
